The first time I saw Midori, she was tying up Zoë Ligon during a bondage demo for Zoë’s Sex Stuff video series. I’ve since watched this video many times, and I always well up with tears when I do. Far from the mainstream’s idea of bondage involving latex, thigh-high boots, and torture (which it certainly can if you’re into that), this demo was a beautiful expression of care and tenderness - words many people outside the kink community don’t associate with BDSM.
When writing my article, Kink 101, I knew I wanted to interview Midori, who has not only an expansive knowledge of BDSM and kink play, but experience teaching kink from a place of honesty and authenticity. Far too many folks are hesitant to engage in any kind of partnered kink play because they’re worried it’ll be like putting on a costume and playing a role they know nothing about - and unless your kink is humiliation, that can feel vulnerable and intimidating.
During my interview with Midori, you’ll learn how she goes about safety discussions, finding out how to fulfill your partner’s kinky desires in ways that feel authentic to you, and so much more. I loved every second of this conversation and I hope you do, too.
